"Audrey Bunny" Children's Book Review & Giveaway! (11/10)

About the Author
Angie Smith is the wife of Todd Smith (lead singer of Dove Award winning group Selah), best-selling author of Mended, I Will Carry You, and What Women Fear, and one of the most popular speakers and blog writers in the country. She holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University and lives with her husband and daughters in Nashville, TN

 

My Review:
"Audrey Bunny" is such a sweet book with an awesome message!  I couldn't help but think of the classic children's book, "Corduroy", as I read this.  There were several similarities between the two books...each book tells of a stuffed animal in a store hoping to find a home yet each has a flaw that they think is keeping them from being bought.  The stories each take a different direction, though, and I have to say that I love the direction "Audrey Bunny" takes.  It shares the message of God's love in a way that children can understand.  "Audrey Bunny" also ends with a "Parent Connection" that is a guide for parents to discuss how God created us and loves us just the way we are.

I have to mention the amazing illustrations too!  They really add something special to the book.  Many times I'll just read through books without paying much attention to the pictures, but I found myself stopping quite often as I was reading and admiring how sweet the illustrations were.

I highly recommend Audrey Bunny to everyone, young and old!  It has a message that young ones need to hear and one that the rest of us need to be reminded of. ;-)

About the Book:

In Rufus and Ryan Go to Church!, four-year-old Ryan explains to his stuffed monkey, Rufus, what is happening as they attend church on Sunday morning. He lets Rufus know when it’s time to sing and to pray and to be quiet. My Review:

Rufus and Ryan Go to Church is a sweet little board book!  Ryan's enthusiasm about going to church reminds me of my own kids' excitement.  They know when it's Sunday that it's 'church day', just as Ryan does, and my daughter especially can't wait to get dressed up, see her friends and learn more about God, Jesus and the Bible.

 

It's cute to read how Ryan teaches Rufus about attending church.  I think little ones can relate to the excitement Ryan has of sharing something they enjoy with someone they care for.  I also think Rufus and Ryan Go to Church is a wonderful way to introduce young children to attending a church service as well.

Rufus and Ryan Go to Church is recommended for the following:
