The Lego Movie Awesome Blog App and GIVEAWAY! (6/29) #TheLEGOMovie

*Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Warner Bros Home Entertainment.  I was not compensated in any way.

The LEGO® Movie, the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO® adventure, directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller is an original 3D computer animated story that follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
Chris Pratt (Moneyball) stars as the voice of Emmet. Will Ferrell (The Campaign) stars as the voice of his primary adversary, President Business, an erudite, anal-retentive CEO who has a hard time balancing world domination with micro-managing his own life; while Liam Neeson (Taken) voices the president's powerful henchman, known as Bad Cop, who will stop at nothing to catch Emmet.
Starring as Emmet's fellow travelers are Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby), as Vitruvius, an old mystic; Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Emmy nominee for 30 Rock), as tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest; Will Arnett (Emmy nominee, 30 Rock), as the mysterious Batman, a LEGO minifigure with whom Lucy shares a history; Nick Offerman (NBC's Parks and Recreation) as a craggy, swaggering pirate, obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Alison Brie (Community) as a sweet, loveable member of the team, with a powerful secret.

GIVEAWAY!

"Veil of Tears" DVD Review and GIVEAWAY! (6/25)

*Disclosure:  I was provided a copy of Veil of Tears in exchange for my honest review.  I was not compensated in any other way.

About Veil of Tears (from the GFA Veil of Tears website):
Veil of Tears is about the oppression of women in India.  These are some facts covered in the film:

  • Did you know that over 50,000 female children are aborted every month in South Asia?
  • Females are often the last to eat and the most likely to be illiterate.
  • Girls are typically the first to work as child laborers and sometimes even sold to become one of 1.2 million child prostitutes.
  • Young girls throughout Asia are ravenously abducted and forced into a life of prostitution with every agonizing day one step closer to an early death from AIDS.
  • Widows in India bear the blame for their husbands’ deaths. They’re shunned by their communities, rejected by their families and forced into an inhumane lifestyle. Tens of thousands take their own lives just to end the pain.
  • Every year in India, more than 7,000 women are doused with kerosene and burned to death by their husbands. The wife’s crime: an insufficient dowry.
  • Many women cannot be approached by men due to cultural customs, making their slim chance of hearing the Gospel even slimmer.

  • But there is HOPE!
Through the heroic efforts of over 2,000 women missionaries who have dedicated their lives to bringing God’s love to the women of Asia, we can reach them. In many Asian cultures, genders rarely mix, so traditional male missionaries are severely limited in ministering to women. However, it is possible to send trained, dedicated women missionaries to reach the millions who still wait to hear that they are precious to Jesus.

After three years of intense training, GFA (Gospel for Asia)-supported women missionaries are driven by a passion: to relieve the pain and suffering of women in Asia by introducing them to the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. They heroically risk persecution, beatings and imprisonment to tell hurting women about a Savior who offers hope for eternity, and strength for today.

    My Review:
Veil of Tears was truly an eye-opener.  I've always heard that women were treated poorly in other parts of the world but, until seeing this film, I had no idea the extent of their suffering. Throughout the movie, as the naration and interviews continued to tell of the struggles of women in India, I started to feel the hopelessness that those women must feel.  I couldn't imagine the situation and couldn't see a way out.  Thankfully God provides a way and it is truly inspiring to see how He uses women missionaries to give hope to these troubled women.

I also want to mention how wonderfully Veil of Tears is made.  It's an award-winning film and I could definitely see why!  I think this documentary is a 'must see'!  Once you watch it, I know you'll feel the need to help however you can...so here's a link to the many ways to take action:
    http://veiloftearsmovie.com/take-action/

    Buy it!!:
Veil of Tears can currently be purchased for $8 at the website's store: http://www.gfa.org/veiloftears/store/  ALL proceeds go directly to help suffering women in Asia.

I want to thank Edify Media, Inc. for providing me with a copy of this film and for offering another copy to give away to one lucky reader!

This show looks super cute!  I can't imagine how my kids would have done on the show when they were that age.  I can only guess that they'd cry when I left them and they wouldn't do anything that they were suppose to do...because they'd be too busy crying!  LOL!  I already missed the premier, but hope to watch it this season.  It looks like it'd not only be refreshing seeing the sweet little faces, but also like there'd be a few laughs as well. :-)
