About Abel's Field
Left motherless by tragedy and abandoned by his father, high school senior
Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) faces enormous pressure as he strives to support his
little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team.
But fighting back only finds him singled out for punishment and assigned to an
after-school work detail under the supervision of the reserved groundskeeper,
Abel (SOUL SURFER’S Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel
may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth
toward desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can
point him back toward the light.
My Review
I was excited at the opportunity to review Abel's Field. It's always nice to watch a movie with a great Christian message as opposed to many other movies that are out there right now. Abel's Field was very inspiring! I couldn't imagine having the responsibilities and struggles that Seth had as a senior in high school. It was great to see Seth's determination to take care of his house and sisters despite his circumstances. When his situation went from bad to worse, he finally turned to the only One who could truly help him. It was also inspiring to see how Abel not only helped Seth, but also learned from Seth. Even though this is a family movie, I wouldn't recommend it for young children due to some intense scenes, but it would be great for upper elementary aged kids and beyond. :-)
