BREAK AWAY synopsis:
Francois is a hard-working husband and dad that gets laid off from his job. None of his efforts to get another job succeed, and he is forced to use what he has, including an old bicycle, in order to provide for his family. With the help of his "black sheep" brother, a bicycle shop owner and a pro-cyclist, Francois makes some life-changing discoveries about his life, career and faith in God.
Although a fictional story, BREAK AWAY, was inspired by true events around the recession that left people without work. The message brings hope and offers practical and Biblical solutions in a very entertaining way.
My Review:
Break Away had a great story line, which I enjoyed watching and wondering what was going to happen next. I loved the message of putting your faith in God and knowing He will provide even when it seems there is no way out. It is also very family friendly! I appreciate being able to watch a movie and know that my kids could watch it too.
The only drawback of the Break Away is that you could tell it was low budget. There were times when the sound was 'off', meaning that it was too loud or too quiet or you could hear the actors walking through stones over them talking. I honestly thought that the acting was quite good, although there were times that some of the actors' lines seemed a little awkward. Honestly though, for only having a $55,000 budget for a movie they should have made for $1 million, I think they did a great job!
All-in-all, the most important aspect of the movie was delivering their message, which they did in a very entertaining way. Anyone who has ever been through hard times, or is currently struggling through them, will appreciate Break Away and hopefully be inspired by it.
