We have yet to go on a family vacation with just the four of us. It seems like something else has always come up to go with other family and we've just never made it. So, when opportunities pop up to have family time outside the home, even if it isn't a vacation, we go for it!
This particular time, we spent the last morning of the kids' Spring Break going to a free movie, Hotel Transylvania. I like to check Plugged-In movie reviews before taking the kids to movies to make sure they'll be appropriate and it had a decent review. After seeing it, I have to admit it was quite cute! :-)
The kids also had gift cards to Wal-Mart from Christmas! (As you can see, we don't get out much, since it's been over 3 months!!) Anyway, they had quite a bit, so they bought themselves toys....
...and wanted to help get Mattie a little something too! They helped pay for her new carrier (the other one we had was borrowed) and a new duck toy...which she has already broke ;-)
The last little bit of our family time was going to McDonald's. The kids' grandparents had given them money to get Happy Meals for Easter, so we used that to finish up our morning of activities.
Some day we'll make it on a family vacation, but for now I kinda like the little bits of family time that we can sneak in. It may not have been much, but it was memorable for us! :-)
Family time is fun time, I agree. Glad you had a nice time out.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great day and that's all that matters!
ReplyDeleteWe loved that movie and just recently seen it in the theater for a free movie as well.
My kids love spending their own money with gift cards too.
Have a great weekend!
I have that movie on my Netflix list.
ReplyDeleteLego's are the best. They didn't really have any for girls when my kids were growing up but my son was a huge fan. Mattie looks so cute. Our Skye is the first dog we have had that destroys every toy! Glad you had such a nice day.
Sounds like you had a very nice and inexpensive time out. We value every minute we get to spend together as a family.
ReplyDeleteHey I take the little moments we can get. What a fun outing. Love the Legos they got and so sweet to help pay for the carrier.
