This is one of the days in the school year that our family looks forward to. Morgan has gotten too old to participate since it's only for Preschool and Kindergarten, but Blake still had the opportunity to enjoy the Safety Day this year.
I titled this "Fire Safety Day", but really the police and EMS are there as well. I think Blake found the police car the most interesting of everything...I came late and took a bunch of picture before he even noticed me!
Being told about the ambulance. The group was mostly boys and they got a kick out of the little vacuum that sucks up vomit-LOL!
Here Rich is telling the kids about the tools on the fire engine.
Just a cute pic where both Rich and Blake were looking and smiling! :-)
Blake with his best buddy in the fire engine.
This part gets some of the biggest smiles! Rich even made a little house for the kids so they could try to get the water through the window this year...made it just a little more fun! ;-)
I'm a little bummed I was late because I missed the kids going through the smoke house this year. (I was told the wrong time and Rich called me when he saw Blake was already outside...I'm not sure I've ever gotten to school that fast before! LOL!) The smoke house actually fills up with smoke and the kids learn to get down and crawl out just as they would have to do in a real fire.
The Fire Safety Day is a GREAT experience for the kids and hopefully helps them remain calm if they ever were in a real emergency situation. :-)
*I covered the faces of the other children because I don't have permission from the parents to show their pictures.
I love it! the town I grow up in has a Weekend called Bonney Lake Days and they have the smoke house there, I've had the kids go through it a few times.
ReplyDeleteWhat GREAT practice. hehe vomit sucker :)
Looks like a fun day and that picture of both Rich and Blake looking at you is priceless.
ReplyDeleteBlake sures looks happy and very interested in what is going on. I like his jacket;)
ReplyDeleteWe had a field trip last week (Kindergarten) to the library, firehouse, and pizza place. The kids were fine at the first and last, but the firefighters forgot the school was coming and no one was there at all. The teacher went to the town building and asked for a key, which they gave her, so the kids got to see the inside. It wasn't the same though w/the firefighters! It sounds like your day with the was much, much better. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL at the smiley's on the other kids. I use a paint bar but that's much cooler.
What a fun experience! My 3 year old loves seeing firetrucks and police cars. I think it's a boy thing! :)
