It's hard to believe that the Summer is over and school has started. I'm not sure where the time went! I'm going through the same feelings this year as last year about my kids growing up and losing my babies, but thankfully I've managed to keep the tears at bay...for the most part...thanks to lots of prayers, deep breaths, not looking other moms in the eyes in the Kindergarten class (if they're teary-eyed, then I know I'd start), and basically trying not to think about it! LOL!
I think something else that helped me through the first day of school tear free was my awesome kiddos' attitudes toward school. Last year I could tell they were a little scared, but this year was just pure excitement! Morgan COULD NOT WAIT to go to school and I think her excitement wore off on Blake. Plus the schools had an open house where they were able to see their classrooms and meet their teachers, which I think put any first day anxiety at ease.
Morgan is in a new school this year. The schools are right next to each other, but one only has preschool and kindergarten and the other is 1st through 4th grades. She was a little concerned with the size of the school, but when she came home she mentioned that the teacher took them on a walk and it wasn't really that big. She absolutely LOVES her teacher too and kept mentioning how nice she is. Rich and I had met her a couple years ago and were hoping that was who Morgan would get, so we're pretty happy about it too!
Blake ended up with the teachers that Morgan didn't have last year, but I have only ever heard wonderful things about them. He was pretty happy about his first day too, but didn't talk about it as much as Morgan. He mostly talked about how some of his preschool friends were in his class and how he enjoyed playing with them. :-)
That was about it for the first day. We had some homemade ice cream for a snack when we got home, homemade pizza for dinner and took it easy after the long day. :-)

I'm glad they were both excited to go. I am sure nice teachers and open house helped a lot. Morgan's glasses are really cute. Hope they both have a great year.
Ahh hun I'm so glad they both were so excited to go back. And what a great teacher to walk them around to show them it wasn't that big that is one great teacher!
LOVE the pictures :)
