An Exciting Day with Disney on Ice

I was fortunate to win 4 tickets to Disney on Ice' s Let's Celebrate show at The Palace of Auburn Hills a couple weeks ago.  We were given the choice of two nighttime weekday shows, or the daytime Friday show.  I decided I must be getting old, because I didn't want to be out late and went for the daytime show.  The kids got all their schoolwork ahead of time, and took their spelling tests the day before, so even though the missed school, they had their work done.

We had some pretty nice seats about 11 rows up from the ice...if I counted correctly.  Here the kids are anxiously waiting for the show to start.

To me the show didn't start off too exciting.  There was a lot of dialogue, it was hard to keep track of who was supposedly 'talking' and all the characters were all over the place.  I was scared I was going to get a headache trying to figure it all out and then the ice dancing, with neat effects, began and it ended up being very fun to watch.  Here Mickey Mouse is with the broomsticks that looked kinda neat in the black lights.

This was from the Halloween celebration.

Where Minnie and Mickey Mouse became a princess and prince.

Some more cool lighting effects toward the end.

We took off from The Palace fairly quickly to get ahead of the traffic and went to the nearby Rainforest Cafe.  (It was a great suggestion from my mom.  She went with us, since Rich had to work.  She also took all the pics, since I forgot my camera.  Thanks Mom!)

The kids thought this was the absolute coolest place to eat EVER!  It even tops McDonald's now. ;-)

The place was already cool since it looks like you're eating in a rain forest, but then the animals come to life a little at a time....then a thunderstorm makes the whole place come alive!  If that wasn't enough, they then got this awesome 'live' volcano dessert!  McDonald's is basically nothing to them now...lol!

 This smile says it all!
The kids REALLY wanted something from the Rainforest Cafe store, so we ended up letting them flatten a couple pennies for 'souvenirs'.  Blake asked me if he could spend his penny after he had gotten done flattening it.  I had to laugh-we just spent 50 cents to make his penny totally worthless...sorry buddy, but nope! ;-)

Next on the agenda, at least for the kids, was a new Wii game at their grandparents' house.  It happened to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game, so if you ask Blake his favorite part of the day, he would probably tell you all about that game. ;-)

We rounded off the day with a Girl Scout meeting.  Morgan loves Girl Scouts, so to her we couldn't have ended the day in a better way. :-)

I had a great day as well.  I enjoyed seeing the wonderment in the kids' faces with all the excitement of the day.  That was probably my favorite part, but I can't leave out the fact that I drove...on an expressway...in towns with more than one traffic light...for the 2nd time since my last accident.  The first time I drove in a 'high traffic' area since the accident I couldn't breath from the anxiety.  I flipped out and felt like I couldn't do it again.  (Imagine feeling like every car that passes, or every car following behind you, is going to hit you...that's how I felt driving.)  So now that, after 6 months, I know I can, it feels good!  I even ventured out again last Friday to the nearby busy city and I survived!  Crazy! ;-)

OMGosh that is so awesome you won those tickets!!

We love the Rainforest Cafe. It's not too close so it's a rare treat.

What fun times!!

I took that drive recently, and there's a LOT of busy, crazy traffic. Hurrah that you got through that mess.

I'm glad you had fun. :)

The restaurant looks awesome, and the day sounds great for everyone.

That sounds like a fun time. I haven't been to one since my children were young.

I haven't eaten at a Rainforest Cafe but I've been in the shopping area. I think when I visit Downtown Disney in Florida I will have to check it out!
