"Home Run", the novel, Review & GIVEAWAY! (4/3) *CLOSED*

About the Novel:
Baseball all-star Cory Brand knows what it takes to win in the big leagues. But off the field, with memories of his past haunting him, his life is spiraling out of control.

Hoping to save her client's career and reputation after a DUI and a team suspension, Cory's agent sends him back to the small town where he grew up. Forced to coach the local youth baseball team and spend eight weeks in the only recovery program in town, Cory can't wait to return to his old life as quickly as possible.

As his young players help him experience the joy of the game, Cory discovers his need to find freedom from his past and hope for his future … and win back the love he left behind. With this unexpected second chance, Cory finds himself on a powerful journey of transformation and redemption.

Based on thousands of true stories, HOME RUN is a powerful reminder that with God, it's never too late … freedom is possible.

My Review:
I wasn't sure how I was going to like this book.  I couldn't imagine a book being made from a movie being written well enough to do the movie justice.  Now, after reading the book, I can't wait to see the movie!  The book was written so well, that I'm excited to see how the actors portray the characters' personalities, thoughts and feelings.  It makes me wonder if all that I imagined while reading Home Run was what the author saw and portrayed so wonderfully in writing the book.

Beyond how well Home Run was written, there is a very important message that nearly everyone can relate to...addiction.  We may not all struggle with drugs and such, but I think there is probably a little something in many people's lives that they're doing to fill a void.  As Cory Brand finds out, it takes more than just willpower to overcome his addictions...only God can make us complete.
